    We are presenting the work of Kari Orvik on March 1 and every night from Midnight until 1AM for the rest of the month. Kari describes her work, ” ‘Exercises for moving in between’ began as a personal tightrope-walking performance, and later grew into video and photographic interventions in the landscape at the Headlands Center for the Arts. Initially, I conceived of being on the tightrope as a way to reveal some imagined state of neutrality between two opposing sides. Instead, through the effort and failure of these forward and backward movements, I discovered that it was the strength of my own backbone that kept me on the rope. Revisiting this work now gives new context to finding balance and perspective amidst times of uncertainty.” This is a part of our monthly collaboration with local artists.     • Midnight Artist Collaboration, October 2021: Shaghayegh Cyrous, & Finley+Muse with assistance from Laura Figa

      October 1-31, 2021

      We are presenting the work of Shaghayegh Cyrous, & Finley+Muse with assistance from Laura Figa for the month of October. Their work, titled Orbits/Madaarha was “inspired by planetariums, proliferating communications networks, and linguistic confusions” and will play on the Tower every night from Midnight-1AM. “Each sequence embodies the humor and enigma of the full cinematic loop, which can be appreciated in both quick and extended viewing. Orbits/Madaarha explores the power and limits of language and the chaotic dynamics of our terrestrial journey.” This is a part of our monthly collaboration with local artists.

    • Midnight Artist Collaboration, September 2021: Zeina Barakeh

      September 1-30, 2021

      We are presenting the work of Zeina Barakeh for the month of September. Her work titled “Standard of Capital” will play on the Tower every night from Midnight-1AM. Barakeh’s animation was “initially inspired by the Sumerian artifact Standard of Ur’s war and peace panels currently in the collection of the British Museum. Reversing the language of video games used in military training systems, the animation references modern-day migration patterns caused by war and neocolonialism.” This is a part of our monthly collaboration with local artists.     • Midnight Artist Collaboration, July 2021: Sarah Klein

      July 1-31, 2021

      July’s Collaboration is with Sarah Klein who created a video titled “The Roof Garden”. The artwork “uses the venerable storytelling form of hand shadows, and features silhouettes of hands holding assorted flowers and plant cuttings. In the sequence of images, the silhouettes morph into kaleidoscopic patterns, turning the tower into one huge flower.” Her work will be on the Salesforce Tower every night in July from Midnight – 1am.
